Description
The aim of the game is to design a project to build something in a city (parks, buildings, churches, etc... for example in the city where the players live). The project must be eco-sustainable from the point of view of the materialsused to build it and the energy used to power it, and must be aimed at making life better for citizens.
The game is divided into 3 parts:
- think about the project.
- face various trials to collect money, sacrifice coins (MS) and active citizenship points (ACP), which will then be used to carry out the project.
- Present your project, how you did it, and have your project evaluated.
The game starts with teams coming up with their own design, in about 10 minutes, and then they move on to phase 2, which consists of the following tests (one animator is needed for each):
- City Hall: central place of city life. Players, after answering up to 10 questions related to the city, receive as many ACPs as the number of correct answers. After that, they have to leave City Hall to make room for the other teams.
- Engineer: gives advice on the project thought up by the students, taking into account eco-sustainability and purpose, and assigns as many ACPs as he thinks the project is well done (from 1 to 5 ACPs). To be consulted, you have to pay him 2 MS.
- Placement Office: it proposes to the boys a "hard work" (e.g. 10 push-ups of the whole team in exchange of 5 MS) or reasoning work (e.g. solving mathematical expression in exchange of 5 MS) with the aim, precisely, to earn as many MS as possible.
- Onlus volunteering: proposes to the boys to make an offer (2 MS in exchange for 4 PCA) or to bring clothes (e.g. the boys take off what they have on) in exchange for 5 MS, or to exchange ACP for MS (e.g. 4 ACP with 2 MS and so on)
- Dealer: offers teams 20 MS as a gift in exchange for 4 ACPs. It will be up to the players to decide whether or not it suits them.
- Bank: Players can deposit the money and points they have earned (only then will they be told by the banker that every 15 minutes, a point and a coin is added to their savings) and get them back at the end of the game.
- Emporium: provides teams with all the materials they need (the materials will have been recommended by the engineer), in exchange for ACP and MS.
Players may address the characters listed above a maximum of 3 times during the game, and never 2 times in a row. Players are given 45 minutes to perform this phase. We will then proceed to the vote. The team presents the project, the materials they used to build it, the social purpose, and the team accountant (who will have noted all expenses and earnings during phase 2) will tell how the ACPs and MSs were earned and spent. You'll also need to keep track of the ACPs that were left over for each team at the end of the game (checking whether or not the team turned to the drug dealer, which would be a bad thing).
Who win?
Three judges cast a vote on each project in tenths, and the team with the highest score wins.
What does the game teach?
Cooperation, active citizenship, spirit of sacrifice, imagination, citizen values, importance of others’ opinions.
